An exciting laboratory session that begins with the identification of three possible suspects involved in the theft of a museum artefact. Students examine evidence left at the crime scene to determine which suspect is guilty. Using gel electrophoresis to analyse DNA, they learn how DNA evidence can be used to solve crimes. They also learn about the properties of textiles and apply their knowledge of chemistry and resistant materials to identify an unknown fibre sample. For years 7-11.
