A Chicago native, to date he has had six number one albums, 11 number one singles and 12 consecutive platinum albums. His collaborations have included Snoop Dogg, T.I., Usher and Keri Hilson. As a songwriter, his lyrics touch on aspects of human experience such as love, desire and pain, leading him to be awarded the Stevie Wonder Award for Outstanding Achievements in Song Writing at the Soul Train Awards in 2006.
