Have to agree with Alan on this..... I've tried this show over two different years and twice we've walked out. A bunch of amateurs doing drag-mime routines which would have been barely passable in the 80's in a show that should have been retired years ago. There again, that is just my opinion - and if there are plenty of punters to fill the venue and come out smiling then there's nothing wrong with producing another year of it. I simply prefer the guys like David Dale at The Birdcage who truly have talent. And no, I don't know him...<br />

I must agree with the reviewers who say the Ladyboys of Bangkok put on a wonderful show! I saw them a couple of years ago and was delighted by their artistry, talent and good humour. Yes, they mime but very skilfully and their dancing is faultless. They performed Michael Jackson's "Thriller" piece with as much style and gusto as the original and received a standing ovation.<br /> <br /> One of the scenes that will always stay with me was played to Charles Aznavour's "What makes a Man a Man". The performer did drag "backwards" - changing from ladyboy to male mode in a dressing-room set on stage, then leaving to go home. It was so moving it brought tears to my eyes. And I'm sure the complementary Sabai cocktails helped, too. ;-)<br /> <br /> I give this show 11 out of 10!<br /> <br /> Felix.<br />

I think you are right - the reviewer must have been at a different show -'cos the one I went to was in a CREAMY coloured tent - not black. And you're right again about the fabulous night out. I'll tell you what I wouldn't have been going to see the Lady Boys of Bangkok for the past six years unless it was really worth it - and last Friday it was soooo fantastic - I'm going again this week with different friends.<br /> <br /> The lady boys of Bangkok - we just love your show!<br />

I feel I must write to tell everyone what a fantastic night my friends and I had watching the Ladyboys. I booked a table of eight weeks ago when I knew they were coming to Manchester, and had been counting down the days to the performance excitedly - having seen them on previous occasions I knew we were in for a fun night out. I usually go with the girls but this time we took the fellas along and The Ladyboys certainly didn't disapoint. We went to the 9.15pm show, sat in the Chill out area witrh drinks waiting for the show to start.. We took to our seats and the atmosphere was great. One male member of our party was celebrating his 21st Birthday, we couldn't beleive he was actually chosen to go on stage with a Ladyboy, he is a fairly shy guy but loved every minute of it - in his words it was awesome and the best Birthday he had ever had. The Ladyboys performances were excellent as usual. We tried the Thai food at the interval and this was as good as you would find in any restaurant in China Town. Each year the show is updated and just seems to get better. I would encourage anyone of any age (our age range was from 21-50) to go along I feel its currently by far the best night out in town.<br />

I have read this review and believe that this gentlemen must have seen a different show.<br /> <br /> Me and my friends had heard of The Lady Boys through rav reviews from other colleagues at work who had seen the show last year. We decided to book tickets for the opening.<br /> <br /> We attended the 9.15pm showing on the opening night which was last Friday.<br /> <br /> The show was the best night out we have had in years - with even my friends making sure they are booking again to take their partners along this week.<br /> <br /> The whole experience we had was just brilliant, from the greeting at the Box Office to collect our tickets, to the doorman, to the food, bar and finally the performance. The material was unique and nothing any of my party had seen before. We laughed, danced and even got a picture with The Lady Boys in the interval - which made the evening complete. My friend also bought some soveniers from the gift shop to take home as a reminder.<br /> <br /> I would like to recommend people to make sure they see this show before it finishes and to ignore the review above. GO and see The Lady Boys and have the best night out in Manchester!!!<br />
