Idomeneo

Idomeneo, King of Crete, makes a promise to Neptune, God of the Sea. When the king realises the terrible price it will incur, vows and hearts are broken. For many years overshadowed by Mozart's glorious comedies, 'Idomeneo' is now recognised as one of the greatest of all opera seria. This concert performances, with an all-star cast headed by Paul Nilon in the title role, offers a rare opportunity to hear Richard Strauss's skilful adaptation. With the Northern Chamber Orchestra, Festival Chorus and Buxton Music Society.
