New Adventures: Matthew Bourne's Swan Lake

Since its 1995 world premiere at Sadler's Wells, Matthew Bourne's version of Swan Lake has become the longest running ballet in London's West End and on Broadway. The work was originally written by Tchaikovsky in the late 19th Century. Matthew Bourne's version unusually casts a male in the coveted part of the Swan. The production has received over 30 international theatre awards.

It’s hard to believe that it is 15 years since Matthew Bourne’s imaginative reworking of Swan Lake was first performed. At The Lowry in 2010 it still has packed houses standing in appreciation and awe at the end. more
