Also "strong overtones of gender bending and homoeroticism push the play kicking and screaming into areas it was never meant to go". If you have a firm idea of where this play was "meant to go" I'm sure plenty of Shakespeare academics would be thrilled to hear about it. Tenuous point in other words, particularly given that all early performances of this play were neceesarily male only in their casting.<br />
