I was actually there on the 3rd October 2009 along with my husband, daughter and her husband -and we all thoroughly enjoyed the whole evening. Michael was extremely entertaining as per his usual self and the audience clapped and gave standing ovations - deservedly so - excellent show. His backing singers were young and vibrant and added their own sparkle to an unforgetable evening. Some new songs and some old favourites and the rendition of the musicals was superb. Thoroughly good entertainment which keeps his fans going back for more - we wouldnt pay to do this if his shows were only average. Looking forward to Hairspray and more Michael Ball appearances at Manchester. Keep it up Michael.
was this reporter actually at the show? Tipsy mums ? and restrained excitement?
As far as I recall the audience went wild and were standing singing and clapping right from the first number, hardly restrained at all, and I didn't see any tipsy mums or daughters.

Why is it necessary to have a pop at the artist and the audience ? if he was there then surely he must have noticed the totally unrestrained response from the audience who obviously thoroughly enjoyed Michael's performance and why hardly any mention of the backing singers and their contribution to the evening? I am tired of reading reviews such as this from people who don't really take any notice of the artist, the content of the show or the re-action of the audience. Why no mention of the great arrangements and harmonies in the Jesus Christ Superstar section? Everyone I spoke to after the show agreed what a great performance it was and how much they had enjoyed it, so why couldn't you use that as the basis for your re-view instead of the sniping catty remarks ?
