I am not really a fan of the Doves but got a free ticket, and to be honest still not a fan now. The Bulgarian Choir were totally weird at points and much better suited to say Bjork.<br /> <br /> A great number of the crowd, were clearly off their faces on drugs, and I got banged into quite a few times and even close to the front there was plenty of room. Worst of all was the amount of people smoking and smoking dope. I made several complaints to staff and nothing was done, in fact like another reviewer has said Security walked past many flaunting this in their faces and it really is not acceptable.<br />

the trademark doves sound was lost in the vastness of the venue - greta songs like "caught by the river" & "cedar room " were not given the justice they deserve - one point also their were literally hundreds of people smoking and the hundreds of security staff just looked the other way - did not the echo arena get threatend with closure last week because of a similar incident there ? <br />

I'm afraid that for me it was a case of There Goes The Dreary......<br /> <br /> They are a band in urgent need of a good singer.<br /> <br /> Jimi Goodwin's voice is simply too monotonous and lacks a range of emotions and the other two are not up to it as vocalists either.<br /> <br /> Too many of their songs merely follow the same pattern and it all becomes a musical quagmire.<br /> <br /> Besides, Kingdom Of Rust is also a vastly overrated album and it was only the older material that really lifted the crowd.<br /> <br /> Oh, and can we please also dispel this nonsense about it being a hometown gig and how Mancunian they are.<br /> <br /> They are three grammar school boys from Wilmslow, Cheshire.<br /> <br /> File under: anticlimax.<br />
