Women Artists: Angels of Anarchy
The first major group exhibition of 20th-century women surrealist artists to be held in Europe. The exhibition encompasses well-known and rarely seen artworks by women artists including Frida Kahlo, Jane Graverol, Lee Miller, Dorothea Tanning and Francesca Woodman from public and private collections around the globe. Women played a huge, but at the time not fully recognised, part in the surrealist movement. They worked in a variety of media including painting, print-making, sculpture and photography. Only recently has an appreciation grown of how crucial women's contributions were to the movement. This new exhibition extends and enhances the understanding of these artists' radical and sometimes still shocking work.
