FOLLOWING a smash-hit West End run, Mary Poppins has arrived in Manchester.

Lancaster-born Lisa O'Hare will star as Mary Poppins and Daniel Crossley (from Southport) as Bert.

The award-winning Disney and Cameron Mackintosh musical will embark on an international tour, calling at the Palace Theatre for a four-month run from December 10 - and it will be the only northern date.

The family show is set to perform to record audiences in Manchester and contains many of the songs from the original film that starred Julie Andrews as the magical nanny, including A Spoonful of Sugar and Chim Chim Cher-ee.

Palace Theatre manager Andrew Rawlinson says: "We are thrilled that Mary Poppins is going to be spending time with us here in Manchester - it's another great opportunity for the Palace to be home to the very best in musical theatre and this will certainly be a supercalifragilistic experience for the whole family."

Mary Poppins is at the Palace Theatre from Thursday, December 11 until Friday, March 7, 2009 . £12.50 - £42.50.
