THE debate about what lies beyond the grave is centuries old, but the proliferation of so-called ‘mediums’ ready to communicate with departed loved-ones was a Noughties phenomenon.
Our passion for psychics shows no sign of slowing down in 2010 either as many of them line up new tours.
Colin Fry is one of the first out of the blocks with his Evening Of Clairvoyance at the Opera House on Monday.
Of all the modern clairvoyants, Fry is one of the most high profile – and, in a sense, most legitimate – of all our TV spiritualist readers because of his long-running satellite TV series, The 6th Sense. He has also got his own psychic school – Colin’s College, in Sweden – where he regularly teaches his students in the way of the medium between international tours.
See for yourself
Plenty of celebrities sing his praises as well, among them old-school rocker Suzi Quatro.
But he’s attracted the eye of the sceptics too, firstly because of a seance in which a ‘floating’ trumpet turned out to be one Fry was holding in the air when the lights were accidentally switched on, and secondly because his messages from the other side are achievable (say doubters) though cold reading techniques alone.
The live tour is, of course, a first person opportunity to see for yourself. Organisers claim that Fry can provide ‘fascinating and foolproof revelations and indisputable accurate facts from the other side’ – a bold claim indeed when even his own TV show has to carry a ‘for entertainment purposes’ disclaimer.
CityLife is scratching its head in contemplation...
