THEATRE fans will be anything but miserable next year, as rumour has it long-running musical Les Miserables is heading back to the city.
The Cameron Mackintosh production was last in Manchester when it had a year-long run at the Palace Theatre in 2004.
I hear that dates are soon to be revealed for January 2010, before it heads off on an American tour later next year.
The musical is a huge favourite among theatre-goers, with its famous songs including Bring Home Home, On My Own and Empty Chairs and Empty Tables.
And of course the show’s biggest hit has been given a new lease of life after Britain’s Got Talent’s singing sensation Susan Boyle trilled I Dreamed a Dream in that now infamous first audition.

That is absolutely fantastic news - i'm dead excited
would like to point out that (to my knowledge) the last time Les Mis was in Manchester was late 2000/ early 2001 - and has never had a "year long residency" anywhere (aside of the West End and Broadway)
Either way, i've got everything crossed that this rumour proves to be true.
