THE LADY BOYS OF BANGKOK
THE MILE HIGH TOUR 2009
FUNNIER… flirtier…. and even more fabulous than ever - the sensational Lady Boys Of Bangkok return to the heart of Manchester with their spectacular new production – The Mile High Tour.
The country’s favourite cabaret party night will be staged in the unique Sabai Pavilion at Sackville Street NCP Car Park, off Bloom Street, from Friday June 26 until Saturday July 25.
The sky’s the limit as 16 of the world’s most beautiful showgirls (who just happen to be men!) blaze a spectacular jet-stream of fun and glamour as they glide smoothly from the disco floor to the Broadway stage; combining the heady spice of Bangkok's exotic nightlife with the glamorous appeal of Las Vegas.
It’s the show everyone talks about - and the new high-altitude production is even glitzier and more glamorous than ever – if that’s possible!
It’s pure entertainment – from the show-stopping choreography to the 400-plus fabulous designer-inspired hand-made costumes… from the excruciatingly immaculate make-up to the sheer style and effervescence of the performance.
And when it comes to costumes – hey! It’s all the way from fabulous feathers to mind-blowingly miniscule!
Authentic
Mama Mia! The feel-good-factor has never felt better - from Riverdance to Dirty Dancing, from Katy Perry to Whitney Houston, you’ll be dancing in the aisles!
But it is not just ‘a show’ – attending a performance of the Lady Boys Of Bangkok is a complete experience. You know you’ve left the everyday world far behind from the moment you enter the fully carpeted foyer.
The ambience and aroma transports you to the heart of Bangkok’s vibrant nightlife.
Authentic Thai cuisine freshly prepared by Chef Thanpwat Phamee is so popular that a dedicated dining area has been created for those wishing to eat before the performance. Dishes can also be ordered then served at your own table in the cabaret room during the performance.
The spacious bar is stocked with a huge range of wines, spirits, beers and soft drinks - and for that extra bit of fun and a reminder of a never-to-be-forgotten-night-out – a whole range of delightful souvenirs, hats, brochures and DVDs featuring the Lady Boys Of Bangkok are on sale at The Boudoir.
The Thai word ‘sabai’ means ‘chill out’ or ‘relax’, so to ensure visitors to the Sabai Pavilion have enough time to enjoy their surroundings, food and drink is available one hour prior to each performance and throughout the show. There’s even a canopy-covered open-air chill-out zone with its own bar.
In the auditorium, Thai hostesses wearing traditional silk costumes welcome the audience and show them to their seats at cabaret tables.
Party atmosphere
Hugely popular with hen parties and office outings, there’s a buzz of excited anticipation as the house lights dim and the Master Of Ceremonies, Sak, announces - “The Lady Boys Of Bangkok are here for (sic) entertain you!”
Direct from the heart of Bangkok’s exotic nightlife, you will be entertained – like no one has entertained you before! - by 16 of the world’s most stunningly beautiful representatives of the Third Sex (Kathoey) – the amazing Lady Boys Of Bangkok. It’s the best party night in town!
Executive Producer Carol Gandey said everyone in the show was delighted to be returning to Manchester for a sixth successive year and she was also very encouraged by the number of enquiries they’ve received from hen parties and office outings.
“Lady Boys of Bangkok audiences are predominantly women,” said Carol. “Many are on a girls’ night out, where they can watch live international entertainment in a party atmosphere – a real break away from every day life.”
Artistic Director Phillip Gandey said Manchester audiences certainly appreciated the humour adding: “although I am sure many are quite jealous of the Lady Boys’ figures and total lack of cellulite, they don’t feel intimidated by them.”
He said the Mile High tour highlights would range from classic movie love songs to iconic hits, from Kyle Minogue to Girls Aloud.
How would he sum up this year’s production?
“It’s the party with attitude and altitude.
“Ladies! – It’s time for take-off. Make it the party night of the year. Gentlemen – keep your belts fastened!
“On the Mile High tour, you are about to escape to a paradise of fun in a glamorous jet-set world where nothing is quite what it seems.”
