this is the pub i manage and is currently the only pub in sale in the good beer guide for 2010 we are a traditional pub with traditional values what we lack in the glamour stakes we more than make up for with a warm friendly enviroment the friendliest pub in trafford by far ....<br />

this pub is the best in sale nothing fancy a bit tired but the warmest welcome in trafford the natives are really friendly the staff and management are marvelous beers top notch<br />

Jim and Tracy have turned the Volunteer around. Kept the traditional atmosphere of a real pub and not a so called theme bar which is so prevalent in todays world. They are warm and welcoming as are the staff, and make you feel like friends and not just numbers to take your money, They go out of their way to make sure they cater for everybody's needs. It has a wide range of age groups which blend well into the pubs environement.<br />

i love the great pint of mild you cant get authentic cask mild like it anywhere else well done jim your doing a great job with the cellar<br />

There's always a warm welcome at the Volunteer in Sale. Jim and Tracy have created a great atmosphere in this traditional pub, and there is always something going on, wether it be an artiste, pool, darts or a quiz. The Beer is excellent and the company is just as good.<br />

this is one of the friendliest pubs iv ever been in the staff are fantastic<br /> <br /> the atmosphere it would be hard to beat they have live music on a saturday and three darts teams two poolteams quiz night this is a superb comunity pub ...i believe they are doing a cycle for christies in may ....can i also add the managment won pub of the season for spring in there first year but did not broadcast the fact they just got on with the job ......pub of the season does not mean pub of the year as advertised at another watering hole nearby ........not wanting to be pedantic but fairs fair ;p<br /> <br /> it has to be the cleanest pub in sale not bad for a pub wich has not had a refurb for 9 yrs..please note....<br />

I don't live very close to this pub, but when I do get there (once or twice a week) I always have a great time, thanks to Tracey & Jim all the staff & customers, a great bunch of people, Keep up the good work.<br />
