STEPHEN Midgley is leaving Paul Heathcote’s city centre Spanish Grado to take over the kitchen at the nearby City Inn.

Previously Stephen ran the Fieldens Arms gastropub at Mellor near Blackburn after training in some top Michelin-starred kitchens, including Michael Caines’ Gidleigh Park.

The City Inn near Piccadilly station has maintained consistent if not lofty standards despite a merry-go-round of head chefs.

CityLife thinks that, if Midgley can bring stability, great things are ahead there. We expect a certain Spanish influence will be carried over.
