Levi gets saucy with his pub grub
SAUCIEST man in Manchester this week? It had to be Mr Cool, Levi Roots, at the Moon Under Water pub, Deansgate, his dreadlocks cascading down his purple Paul Boateng suit.
Not content with his Reggae Reggae sauce outselling tomato ketchup in Sainsbury’s, his fiery condiment now spices up the nachos at the Moon and every other Wetherspoons pub.
The Brixton-based musician shot from reggae to riches after BBC’s Dragons’ Den invested in his secret sauce recipe and he’s never looked back with a new TV series, book and album in the pipeline.
CityLife had hoped to get his rival entrepreneur’s verdict on Apprentice winner Yasmina Siadatan.
But just as he had never watched Dragons’ Den till he was on it, his only recent telly viewing has been his beloved West Indies cricket team scorching through the World Twenty20.
“Chris Gayle’s a Jamaican like me and I was very proud when they beat the Aussies," he told us.
Next up in Manchester on July 19, Levi will be among the chefs serving up a free feast for 3,000 folk at the International Festival.
What’s he planning to cook?
"It’s going to be my surprise,” he told us.
Expect plenty of tongue-tingling spice then.
