As its name suggests, The Nook is a tiny bar nestled between Abode and The Bar along Chorlton’s vibrant Wilbraham Road strip. Through the glass window you can often see groups of friends huddled around the tables, shifting stools to accommodate new drinkers. moreEvents happening at The Nook

I frequent the Nook in Chorlton along with Abode and The Bar, because they are within easy staggering distance but happened upon the opening Disko Pogo event in January. A good selection of music was played, which went well with the Nook's great selection of drinks. The place filled up pretty quickly as the night went on, with various people collectively enjoying the music as background in the upstairs bar, or nice and loud in the basement, where the UV lighting and miniature dinosaurs added to the weird ambience of the event!
I heard some reggae, dub, hip hop, and hacienda house classics, along with the likes of Kraftwerk and Kid Creole! Apparently Disko Pogo features 6 Djs who's egos are competing against each other! The final half hour was great as everyone was relaxed and the music was pumped up witha bit of Joy Division (‘Love will tear us Apart’) Public Enemy and Blueboy ‘Remember me’. Warmed me up no end before I went into teh city centre to Sankeys. A memorable night and I'll certianly be going to the next one on March 21st.This review is the opinion of a CityLife reader and not that of CityLife itself
