Ram & Shackle's eclectic bill
NEW HAUNT: Ram & ShackleSINCE late September Fallowfieldians have been enjoying the cheap drinks and cool ethos of the Ram & Shackle, a bar with rough charm, utter chaos and young optimism in equal measure.
CityLife decided to see what the the organisers - the people behind last summer's Mad Ferret festival - have got going on, on a weekly basis.
Thursday is short film night so expect many a weird, wonderful and creative piece to be shown.
Apparently they try to foster a chilled out atmosphere for this and frown upon snobbiness so if even you don't know the first thing about film you'll be welcome. You can even get your own film shown by contacting the group on Facebook.
Also on Thursdays is 'Global Beats', a night based on latin vibes, reggae and funk tunes. So if short films aren't your thing then maybe grooves are.
Every Friday sees the intriguingly named Chairman Meow's Cheeky Tunes night. Renowned DJ's Rich Reason and Jonny Dub play a mix of 70's funk, soul, rhythm and blues and dub to get the dancefloor moving.
Saturday night will feature the bi-monthly electro night 'No Requests' hosted by guest DJ's from across Manchester.
If all that sounds a bit heavy then the Rolling Sunday Revue might be the thing for you. Every Sunday this open mic night plays host to a variety of live acts.
