AS well as the gleaming glass and chrome bars that seem to spring up on a weekly basis, the city's drinkers also like to step back in time when they sup their beverage of choice.
Here are CityLife's top five bars for people frozen in the fifties:
Tiger Lounge, 5 Cooper Street, Manchester – Step into the kingdom of kitsch.
TV21, 10 Thomas Street, Manchester – A bit like drinking in a Hollywood B-movie.
Monroes, 38 London Road, Manchester – Scarily dedicated to the one and only Norma Jean.
Fab Café, 111 Portland Street, Manchester – The sort of place you’d see a Cyberman knocking back a Bud.
Briton’s Protection, 50 Great Bridgewater Street, Manchester – Old-fashioned pub with old-fashioned values.
Any other suggestions? Let us know below.

I recommend The Wheatsheaf, on Whittle Street, just off Tib Street in the Northern Quarter. I don't think that place has seen a decorator since the 50s at least.
