No other word to use, outstanding gig from a outstanding band!

Kasabian

This was the fourth time this year I've seen these guys (Preston, Glastonbury and Academy previously), and they never disappoint me. One of the great live acts out there at the moment. Stunning stage set, top anthemic songs, and an great charismatic frontman. Top marks as always, although I have to say i preferred the more intimate settings of the Academy back on June 30th, but that's purely down to the venue and no longer can Kasabian avoid going down the areana route.

Twisted Wheel

Absolutely spot on with this review!! I do like this band, I think their raw energy is a great asset, but the main room in the Academy is way too big for these guys who are still in the infancy of their career. I commented with my brother on the night that commercial success, whilst not everything a band might want, is what Twisted Wheel are lacking in order to fill out this room, for example I watched The Pigeon Detectives here in October 07, roughly 5 months after they released their debut album, and the commercial success they had early on meant the venue was far more packed out and raucous!! Same for The Courteeners last May which had a real Mancheter vibe about the night!! At the end TW's set, I had the feeling that we were waiting for the main act to come on!! Another thing that disappointed me on the night was the sound quality, I've been to the Academy many times and i've never known the sound quality to have been so poor. As for the early reviewer, you must have been at the front, I was roughly 15 yards back (unusually for me!) and it was rather sedate to say the least. Overall, loads of promise, but this was too big for them to pull off
