British Sea Power

When the reviewer refers to Arcade Fire, etc, it implies that all these bands have influenced the sound of BSP. Couldn't it be vice versa? BSP have been around since 2000. Incidentally, the track referred to as "Easy" is actually called "No Lucifer" Finally, it's refreshing to see a band, who play a 90+ minute set of music and assume that the audience is mature/intelligent enough to give "context" to the songs/music in the set - it's called value for money!

How long did this review take to write? 20 seconds? If you can't summon up the enthusiasm to write something interesting, let me have your free ticket (I paid for mine) and I'll do the review!!

There were 2 other comments here yesterday - one which gave a link to a thoughtful review of this gig - why was it removed?

I agree - a great gig! ps "Give A Little Love" is from their first album!

Shockwaves NME Awards Tour 2009: Glasvegas + Friendly Fires + White Lies + Florence and the Machine

Was Daniel Nolan there? The sound quality for Glasvegas was appalling - at times unlistenable. If they couldn't tell that the sound was so poor, why didn't the sound/light engineers in the middle of the hall tell them. I love the album, but on this performance, I don't care for the band's attitude to their fans.

The XX

As usual a small noisy minority spoil it for the majority. I agree with the Reviewer to the extent that the gig wasn't as good as it would have been if the audience had given the band and the music the respect they deserved. I appreciate that a gig is a different experience to listening to a cd, but I am not sure that "different" means that you talk incessantly whilst the band is playing. The difficulty for a band like XX is that their music relies on a 'quiet' and intimate atmosphere, and I would have thought that anyone paying for a ticket would appreciate this. Obviously not! An example - I stood behind one particular half wit near the front, who went after 2 songs to get a half of lager, then made his way back, through a packed hall, to 'his position' and his equally half witted mate, and began to chat as if they were in a bar. He then couldn't understand why I told him to shut up. Maybe the lager is so strong, that the half clouded his senses!
