Make Contact with Blacktronica
Contact setSOMETIMES the best club nights are the ones held in random places.
Just look at the Warehouse Project, which in its time has been housed up in Boddies’ brewery, the former home of Factory Records and now a disused arch under the streets of Piccadilly.
The latest to join this random list is the Contact Theatre (that odd bit of architecture on Oxford Road near Manchester University) which this Saturday hosts Blacktronica – one of the Guardian’s favourite club nights.
Charlie Dark is the mastermind behind the club night, which brings together poets, painters, film makers, musicians and other such arty types.
MySpace
Not sure what to expect? Check out his MySpace page (see below) which states: “An articulate explorer of the ways in which music and text collide, Charlie Dark is globally recognised as an important musical visionary through his eclectic DJ sets, production and remix work.
“Conceived in the winter of 2001, Blacktronica continues to push, explore and unify the innovative sounds of the black electronic music scene in the UK with its global cousins.”
And how much will it cost you to be a part of Blacktronica? Nothing, diddly squat, nadda. For those that don’t speak yuppy, roughly translated that means entry is free.
