Bowling for Soup
Academy, Manchester
October 29, 2011
It's been over a year since this Texan pop-punk foursome played in Manchester but the fans are as loyal as ever.
The band are 17 years old this year, but their music and humour remains young.
They opened with the elating I'm Gay followed by celebrity-bashing hit High School Never Ends. The audience sang every word back and the band were led well by singer Jaret Reddick. They belted through hits Emily and Ohio, and took time to bring fans on stage too.
Highlights included covers of Stacey’s Mom by Fountains Of Wayne and Summer Of 69 by Bryan Adams as well as fan favourites Punk Rock 101 and The Bitch Song.
The acoustic interlude with Turbulence was a welcome break from the mayhem and the evening ended with the best known hits including Almost, 1985 and Girl All The Bad Guys Want, leaving the crowd drained and elated.
