The Bluest Blue
The Bluest Blue
24:7 Theatre Festival 2010: Pioneer Stage
July 26, 2010
When two strangers meet, you never know what the encounter might lead to.
In this case, a student quietly taking his lunch break in the grounds of York Minster is disturbed by a sexy woman dressed in a traffic warden’s outfit, high heels, stockings – and a pair of fairy wings.
It’s Raquel, who says she’s a traffic warden and is in York for a hen party. Felix, the student, is unnerved by Raquel’s forwardness, but they talk.
Paul Osborne’s play sparks along, driven by the engaging Hannah Dee as Raquel. And Tom Gladstone plays the reserved Felix splendidly, even when she leaps on him.
But when Dee leaves the stage the tempo drops – and the play peters out.
The 24:7 Theatre Festival runs until August 1 at New Century House, Manchester. Check www.247theatrefestival.co.uk for listings and times.
