The Nook
As its name suggests, The Nook is a tiny bar nestled between Abode and The Bar along Chorlton’s vibrant Wilbraham Road strip.
Through the glass window you can often see groups of friends huddled around the tables, shifting stools to accommodate new drinkers.
Whether it’s the candlelight and feelgood tunes, the vast selection of exotic beers, or its miniscule footprint, there’s an infectious friendliness about the place.
Looks wise it’s homely and Moroccan themed, with lanterns, trinkets and mosaic tiles adding to the charm. Over two years, The Nook has made a name for itself through its vast range of unusual beers. New on tap is pale ale Dortmunder which sits alongside Spanish hit Cruzcampo, Pilsner Urquell, Portugese Sagres, Guiness, Aspalls cider, and a guest ale and guest cider.
Some of those bottled are Peroni, Chang (currently £2), Timmermans fruit beers, Sierra Nevada, Swedish Rekorderlig cider, Schneider Weisse and the highly recommended Polish Zywiec.
The small street-level bar gets busy at the weekend with vintage bods, teacher tribes and beer swilling gents spilling out onto the covered roadside seating area.
Downstairs the mini club-cum-cellar party has room for 25 people to boogie, where female DJs night, Turn The Tables, takes over the first Friday of the month and new night, Roots Before Branches, hosts a vinyl only session on the last Saturday of the month, among other nights.
All in all, it’s a hip and lovable local.
