No Wonder

SOMETIMES the stories we tell to try to save ourselves from the sheer matter-of-fact terror of daily life can let us down, says Claire Urwin’s striking and provocative play, adapted from her own short story.

Luke (Paul Currie) is a schoolboy who finds out that not all wardrobes lead to a magical world, while his mother Alison (Heather Johnson) is made only too hearbreakingly aware that sometimes boys do have to grow up, that none of them can fly and that sometimes what Alice finds on the other side of the mirror isn’t so magical after all.

Cleverly written and well-acted, this is another winner in a truly tremendous 24:7 line-up.

Runs until Saturday, July 25 (no show July 24).
