Dancing to the Sound of Crunching Snails
WHO would have thought old-school board games and the Blue Danube could be so laden with dark potential?
Katie (Catherine Kinsella) loves the Strauss tune but her sister Sara (Gemma Wardle) can’t stand it and it makes Katie’s partner Sam (Andrew Grose) reach for the Buckaroo.
Then Katie and Sara’s estranged dad Howard (Michael Starke) pays a Boxing Day visit and the air is soon thick with bitter recriminations and unexpected explanations as a Monopoly game goes terribly wrong.
Family tensions at Christmas is hardly an unexplored topic for playwrights but writer Joe Graham and director Joyce Branagh bring a distinct freshness to this comedy drama, as well as what’s surely the most intriguing title in this year’s bumper 24:7.
Dancing To The Sound Of Crunching Snails runs until Thursday, July 23.
