Laughter Lines

SOME excellent filming of a very high standard introduced impressive acting by most participants who then delivered a dramatic monologue.

Although characters from Ben Elton's work were favoured by the young actors those who appeared to interpret their own work gave the most notable performances.

Sebastian Porter's clever scenes depicted his amusing meetings with the Queen.

The anonymous "Hugo's friend" bizarrely seeking the Red-Eyed Gorilla was gripping and one of the few sketches where the audience was held to a well-delivered ending.

Aidan Ryan impressed the audience with his professional performance and Lee Rae entertained us to a well-delivered and very funny scene featuring mobile phones.

There was no programme and the on-screen information was barely held long enough for the audience to register its significance.

Timing and delivery of punchlines are crucial for comedy monologues and the best actors commanded the space and interpreted their lines well.

It was great to see young actors cutting their teeth with a real audience in such a great community venue.

These actors have the energy and ideas of youth and need more opportunities to hone their skills and develop their talent.

A well-deserved place in the Not Part of... Definitely one to watch.
