Cornermen
THERE are not enough positive words to describe the theatrical masterpiece that is Cornermen, showing until Saturday July 18 at the Moss Side Fire Station Boxing Club.
The entire boxing club is turned into the stage, and the actors weave through the spectators, staying in character at every moment.
Every line is delivered with such conviction and emotion, that the audience are totally submerged in the environment.
I have never experienced a theatre production which used the space so creatively and with such bold imagination.
Polished script
The hour play opens up the world of Aazim played by Borhan Moammadi and Mickey played by Ciaran Griffiths.
They are two teenagers who are on the cusp of inheriting their father’s ignorance and prejudice.
The polished script and authenticity brings their struggles to life as their eyes are opened by their Coach, played by Nigel Travis.
Cornermen is a very clever production and should definitely be added to any ‘to do’ list for the rest of the week. Just make sure you wear comfortable shoes, as there is some standing involved.
