Dominic Berry's Kro Pulse

Dominic Berry Dominic Berry

A QUEER vegan poet was our performer of choice last Friday at Krobar and I had dragged along my sister and best friend for the occasion (who were skeptical to say the least).

We settled in and waited, with 40 other spectators all squashed into a small, hot space. And what we got was something very special indeed.

Dominic is a performance poet- in the true sense of the word. He meshes the theatre and literature world to produce something quite delicious and totally engaging.

From the moment he started to speak we were totally captivated- the incredible way he uses words, the expression and energy of the delivery and the subject matter made him irrestistible.

That little room journeyed with him as he told us he was saying goodbye to some of his works and therfore performing them for the last time in Manchester.

Actually blubbing

He was emotive, intelligent and raw, whilebeing an absolute professional; polished in his delivery.

With support from the wonderful Annette Cookson who, again, was totally convicted and really very moving, my skeptical guests were amazed (with my sister actually blubbing through one particularly poignant poem).

We really felt we had experienced something very different and very beautiful.

I urge you to go and see Dominic and enjoy. He is a very brilliant man with a lot to say- oh and, of course, he says it so well.
