Barrel of Laughs

John warburton - compeer par excellence John warburton - compeer par excellence

I LOVE the VIP welcome you get at the F & B. I thought it was specially for me, and only mildly disappointed that virtually everyone gets the instant grand tour, directions to loo, bar & stage and escorted to their table - a far cry from Bernard Manning's Embassy Club.

Comedy wise, Compeer John Warburton ate the hecklers alive, fearlessly challenging them to a vocal good natured fight they couldn't win and leaving them silent for the other acts

Roger Monkhouse continued the Manc-Liverpool theme, seemingly taking it on himself to spontaneously expand on Warburton's material, though he moved to fresh territory as he progressed, challenging the medical & government about drinking alcohol 'responsibly' to a cynical audience including me, who have no intention of doing so.

Steve Shanyaski made Manchester chavs the target of much of his routine, with references to Poundland and binge drinking.

Headliner Duncan Oakley sang about finding himself with another man's willy with wit and subtlety that Manning would never have understood, but which was clearly well received at the F & B.
