Peter Slater + Lee Fenwick: The WART Show

HAVING seen just a small taster of Peter Slater’s Sir Arthur Conan the Barbarian, I had high expectations of the full W.A.R.T Show, which was held upstairs in a cosy room at the Lass O’Gowrie.

I wasn’t disappointed. The intimate performance was a rollercoaster of side splittingly funny character based sketches from both Peter and Lee Fenwick, appreciated by  a small but very responsive audience.

With a combination of off the wall characters such as slacks obsessed Leonard Trousers and time travelling geek Mr Digital, to more familiar feeling ‘too cool for school’ singer/song writer Ray Tangerinehead, it  kept the evening fresh and its audience enraptured.

Tears of laughter

The show was slick and professional with character compares and hosts – Mike Sergent and Bernard Walters easing each sketch to the next. Some additional guests and adverts from the show’s sponsors mixed it up with lots of variety.

The highlights of the night had me crying tears of laughter with Father Bellend and his malfunctioning false teeth, Peter Slater’s improve style provided genuine hilarity to the already funny and inappropriate broad Lancashire clergy man.

Sir Arthur Conan the barbarian’s very rude alternative to JK Rowling’s best seller, Harry Hotter had the audience in stitches.

These guys are destined for big things, so I would urge as many people to see them now for a close up and personal performance that promises to make your mouth ache.
