Mad About Manchester Artists
THIS small collection of artworks is surprisingly stimulating and well worth a visit.
The portraits are particularly noteworthy especially those of Benjamin Jazz Harrison whose loose and confident style make a huge initial impact on approaching the exhibition.
Alongside these are more portraits by Sophie Bennett illustrating subjects with interesting and colourful backgrounds reflecting their individual personalities.
The quirky watercolours of Helen Cole showing tantalising glimpses of imaginary cities are intricate and beautifully executed.
Less figurative pieces include Claire Curtin’s bus journey etchings which are quite abstract and individual and Anne Parkinson’s large abstract canvases which are eye-catching pieces of design.
Also on display are mixed media paintings and a sculpture ‘Metal Trees’ by Stephen Maxwell which would probably better suit an outdoor location. All in all a worthwhile and inspiring collection.
