Flash Mob Shakespeare
TO take part or not to take part was the first question.
About 40 people turned out to perform Shakespeare’s Sonnet 18 in an amphitheatre under a cloudy Manchester sky.
There appeared to be some confusion over the venue with a number turning up at the Castlefield arena.
The concept of a flash mob, a group of strangers meeting in a place for a particular purpose, in this case to perform Shakespeare put a modern twist on the Bard.
When the whistle blew the performance began and it finished just as quickly.
Maybe my expectation of the number of people who would participate was unrealistic.
With more people it could truly have been a spectacle to remember, but it was good to be a part of the Not Part Of festival.
It’s a shame that the X Factor judges staying in the neighbouring hotel or just the crowd of people waiting for them to leave didn’t join in, now that could well have got the judges' attention.
