Blue - Breathe Easy (Innocent)
FRESH from the mind-boggling news that Lee Ryan has a solo song on The Passions Of The Christ soundtrack, it appears that every tabloid editor's favourite boy band member has also co-written the new Blue single.Set to titillate a million teenage girls, Breathe Easy comes straight from the Westlife school of songwriting - a twinkling piano melody leads into a crashing chorus; Duncan croaks; Lee wails and the other less-interesting two wander around looking bored.
Continuing the age-old theme of muscular boys humbling themselves in front of their unforgiving female fans, Breathe Easy is a desperate plea to a heartless harpy - a girl who dumped on the poor Blue-boy and now saunters around with her new love.
While it is more touching than most mushy boy band ballads, it pales next to Blue's up-tempo numbers, particularly their funk-soul classic All Rise.
The boys from Blue can do better.
