Albums round-up: September 29 - October 4
THE Darkness were finally knocked off their perch this weekend after four weeks at the top.Debut album Permission To Land was overtaken by the return of Devon rockers Muse.
Their third album in five years, Absolution, went straight in at number one.
The Darkness will have been appeased though by the news single I Believe In A Thing Called Love went straight in at number two this week.
There is now even talk of conquering the US, unitards and all.
Elsewhere in the top ten there was a plethora of entries.Sting, R Kelly, Nickelback, Limp Bizkit and the Chemical Brothers all debuted with new releases.
The former Police singer secured a number three spot with the follow up to Brand New Day, Sacred Love.
R Kelly took the fourth spot with his hits package, The R in R & B, Nickelback entered at five with The Long Road, Limp Bizkit went in at seven with Results May Vary and The Chemical Brothers complete the set with their greatest hits collection, Singles 93-03, in at nine.
This week saw the return of Islington songstress Dido. The follow-up to 2001's worldwide smash No Angel, Life For Rent was released following the success of comeback single White Flag.
Only a few weeks after wowing more than 300,000 people at Knebworth, Robbie Williams fans will get the chance this week to relive their favourite moments thanks to the release of the live album.
Elsewhere, former Sugababe Siobhan Donaghy releases her debut solo album, Revolution In Me. Tweet
