Allison Moorer - Show (Universal South)

ALLISON Moorer's live shows are potent and passionate affairs that her three albums, good as they are, haven't adequately reflected.

So this album, recorded live at one of Nashville's best venues,12th & Porter, this January (with initial quantities also including a DVD of the evening, as is currently the fashion), is good news.

Nor do Moorer and her band disappoint, with a spirited and judiciously-chosen set from those studio albums, plus a cover of Neil Young's Don't Cry No Tears and a new song, called I'll Break Before I Bend.

Big sister Shelby Lynne guests on a few numbers with Moorer's old cohort, Lonesome Bob, also putting in an appearance, along with, more unexpectedly but to surprisingly good effect, Kid Rock.
