Oasis - Lyla (Big Brother Recordings)

AND so, after numerous false starts, here it is.

After suffering from the law of diminishing returns since the heady days of Morning Glory and Knebworth, the Gallagher brothers currently find themselves in the bar firmly labelled élast chance salooné.

So what can we gauge from the first offering from Donét Believe The Truth é and will it, and the album it is taken from, find them back on top of their game?

Early indications are positive - chugging out of the stereo like a 21st century Street Fighting Man, Liamés rasp is as vibrant and gritty as ités ever been on a track apparently based on the sister of the Stone Rosesé Sally Cinnamon.

It may not ére-invent the wheelé, as Chris Martin famously quipped his band Coldplay would try to do, but crank the stereo up to 11 and it definitely sounds like a return to the vociferous form of old.

For those eagerly awaiting the LPés release on May 30, Noel claims it is one of the albumés élesseré tracks too é with a well-known penchant for extravagant claims, letés hope heés right this time.

Released May 16, 2005.
