Reverend & The Makers - He Said He Loved Me (Wall of Sound)

FUSION is a word that loosely translates as either interesting or indulgent when applied to music.

Right now, it's flavour of the month with bands like Enter Shikari (kings of electro nu-rock) heading the pack. Reverend & The Makers certainly aren't the first to fuse electronic rhythms with funk beats, ska signatures and indie patterns (the Happy Mondays have long since been credited with that crown), but they certainly have their own take it.

Largely, 'their take', though, equals a Sheffield accent and working class grumbles, but boy! Can The Makers deliver a chorus, particularly keys girls Laura Manuel who gets to the crux of this tale of deception with some EastEnders-style mockney moaning.

And given Sheffield's current position as the Madchester of the Noughties, the Reverend might find He Said He Loved Me is the hymn that swells his congregation.

Released on September 3
