The Enemy - Away from Here (Warner)

SO non-descript is the Enemy's latest single Away from Here that, even after a dozen or so plays, it remains largely unfamiliar.

Brainless riffing and rawk posturing fail to engage. Only a rather catchy chorus risks getting under the skin.

Nor does the band have an awful lot to say.

Lines such as 'I'm so sick, sick, sick and tired/Of working just to be retired' retread well worn ground, namely the desire to escape the daily grind. Others have conveyed similar frustrations more convincingly (Hard-Fi) and wittily (The Rakes).

The Enemy just come across as work-shy layabouts.
