BRUSHES and bins have helped a stage group clean up honours and praise around the world.

Now the multi-award winning company STOMP are to return to The Lowry with their oddball performances which have been seen by around nine million people.

They have five companies performing worldwide, a New York production in an eighth sell-out year, Olivier awards and a performance at the Oscars ceremony on their recent playlist.

Their mission is to find beauty and music in the mundane, from boots and bins to Zippo lighters and plumbers' plungers - all are part of their amazing shows. Eight inspired performers make instruments from brooms and turn hand-clapping into conversation.

They take the clutter and junk of everyday life and transform it all into a witty theatrical event.

Critics have described the group as pure stage magic.

They were nominated two years ago for a Manchester Evening News Best Special Entertainment category.

STOMP are to appear in Salford from March 19 to 24 as part of The Lowry's new season.
