People's History Museum: Crime And Punishment 1800-2000
Crime and Punishment 1800-2000 is a family-friendly exhibition which runs from July 16 to January 15, allowing visitors to throw objects at people in the stocks, add to the graffiti wall, enter a prison cell and dress up as a police officer or criminal.
The exhibition is full of interesting facts such as the Victorians believing in a criminal type that couldn't be reformed, while other people used to think you could identify a criminal just by their face.
There will also be objects to view such as an execution block, photographs and items from protests such as the Miners' Strike and the suffragette movement, political prints and truncheons.
Crime and Punishment 1800-2000 is at the Pumphouse People's History Museum on Bridge Street from July 16 to January 15. Open Tuesday to Sunday and Bank Holiday Mondays from 11.00am to 4.30pm. Admission is £1 for waged visitors and free to concessions.
