Whale of a time at the zoo

VISITORS to Chester Zoo can now learn about saving the whale.

The zoo's education department is running a Whale Workshop - with life-sized inflatable marine mammals - in the wildlife discovery centre.

It is designed to raise awareness of conservation threats - including irresponsible fishing methods and pollution - to marine life.

There are several life-sized models of sea creatures and centrepiece of the event - which runs until Saturday - is a nine-metre basking shark.

These sharks can be seen off the coast just a few miles from the zoo.
