Gazzamania set for Waterstone's

NO doubt football fans will still be drowning their sorrows, following England's 2-1 defeat by France at the weekend.

But never mind, there is news of a forthcoming visit by a soccer legend that is sure to cheer even the most dejected of supporters.

Former England and Newcastle United player Paul Gascoigne will be signing copies of his new autobiography Gazza: My Story, at the St Ann's Square branch of Waterstone's on June 25.

Of course, alongside his glittering football career, Gazza will always be remembered for the tears he shed when England failed to reach the final of the World Cup in 1990. So, let's hope he didn't take news of this weekend's defeat too badly.

According to the promotional material, his new book will be a "full and frank" account of his career, told in his own words, for the first time.

Apparently, it will look at life on and off the pitch for the affable Geordie living in the spotlight began to take its toll.

However, I hear that the sporting star won't be doing any interviews to coincide with his Manchester visit. Funny, he never really came across as the shy type...

Paul Gascoigne will be at Waterstone's on Friday, June 25 at 12pm.
