Booth returns with a sizzling show

WHICH ever way you look at it, John Booth is certainly a handy man.

After spending 35-years as a professional roofer the Glaswegian turned his hand to painting during his retirement.

Now the Stockport College trained artist is set to exhibit in the city using a hardy material which often crops up in the roofing trade itself é bitumen.

Adapting techniques he originally used in his days as a roofer, Booth is said to control the volatile substance with such skill that it blurs the line between life and art.

His abstract and semi-abstract paintings are sought by private galleries and collectors alike and he brings a collection of them to the cityés Blyth Gallery from February 6.

The new show, Hot Stuff, is said to be a typically eye-catching, visceral affair.

Hot Stuff is on at the Blyth Gallery in Amazon House, Brazil Street from Tuesday, February 6 until Saturday, March 3. Open: Monday to Friday: 10am-5pm and Saturday: 11am-3pm. Call 0161 236 1004 for more information.
