IT'S a dilemma many a dog owner has faced, and Salford punk poet John Cooper Clarke is no different after his new puppy chewed his favourite pair of shoes.

And they weren't just any old shoes - but rather his trademark Cuban-heeled snake-skin boots.

Now John is hoping M.E.N. readers might be able to help him track down the man who originally made the boots for him back in the 1970s.

John said: "The chap who made the boots, Bill Williamson, retired a few years back when his Shudehill Cobblers was demolished to make way for The Printworks development. I think he moved to somewhere in the Prestwich area of Manchester.

"I would really love to find him so that he can make me another pair as I'm due to appear at The Lowry in Salford in September, and I just wouldn't feel right performing without them - in fact, I'd feel naked."
