Johnny Vegas to wed

PALS of funnyman Johnny Vegas say they've never seen him so happy, following news that he is to wed his girlfriend after a whirlwind four month romance.

The St Helens comic met 26-year-old interior designer Catherine Donnelly while filming in London. And now the pair are jetting to San Francisco early next month for a glitzy quickie wedding.

"It's typical Johnny, he's a diehard romantic," a friend reveals. "It really was love at first sight. Their honeymoon will be travelling around the States and when they get back they'll have a big family do."

The news comes as Cosmopolitan publishes an interview with Vegas, conducted before he met his beau, in which he reveals his soft-hearted ways have not always proved a hit with the ladies.

"The biggest reaction from women is disappointment that I'm not my on-stage persona. They say, 'Oh, I thought you'd be more like you are on telly' and I think, 'What? An alcoholic loud-mouthed mickey-taker is your idea of attractive?'"

Seems it's their loss now.
