David gives girls a thrill at Shayne's show

SUPPORT worker David Thompson caused a bit of a stir in the crowds at one of Shayne Ward's homecoming gigs at the weekend - and our pictures might show why.

Fans thought that David's resemblance to their pop hero was so uncanny that he was mobbed by girls wanting to take his picture - and he even received marriage proposals!

David, 20, was only at the gig at the M.E.N. Arena on Saturday night for a friend's birthday celebration.

He tells me: "When we sat down I could hear people whispering that I looked like Shayne Ward. So my friend thought it would be funny to text a message to the big screen saying "David looks like Shayne". After that everyone was looking at me, and people even texted back asking me to marry them!

"Then as we were leaving girls kept stopping me to ask for my photo, it was very funny."

David, who lives just down the road from the M.E.N. Arena in the city centre, can't see the resemblance to the X Factor star himself.

He says: "I think it's just that we dress in quite a similar way. I certainly can't sing like Shayne, I'm more of a karaoke singer."
