DJ Bez brings down the house

NEWS reaches me that Happy Mondays dancer Bez is carving himself a serious career as a superstar DJ.

Indeed, so popular is the Celebrity Big Brother winner when he's spinning decks that one of his seaside shows had to be pulled last week when the euphoric crowd almost started a riot.

Bez was doing a DJ set in Skegness, East Yorkshire, as part of a tour of cool dance clubs around the country and 2,000 fans poured into the small venue.

When Bez started pumping tunes security felt obliged to step in and whisk him away for his own safety.

Stage invasion

My spy tells me: "Everyone loves Bez - and he's a really good DJ. Halfway through his set people started to try and climb on stage just to touch him. At one point it looked like the whole crowd was going to attempt a stage invasion.

"Security stepped in at that point. It could have been a full-scale riot if they had not acted when they did."

It looks likely that the scene will be repeated on Friday when Bez joins Shaun Ryder and the other Happy Mondays as the re-formed, if not reformed, Madchester favourites play their only UK gig of the year at the Liverpool Academy.
