Ex-Busted's Matt makes tracks

WHEN former Busted star Matt Willis came to Manchester he wanted to do it differently - so he hired an express train.

The singer, who launched his new solo career this week with an appearance at Manchester's Trafford Centre, tells me he wanted to make an instant impact at the start of his comeback trail: "I suppose we could have come in a limo or on a plane, but everybody does that. We wanted to make our mark, so we hired an entire train."

As Matt travelled with his band between Euston in London and Piccadilly in Manchester he gave an unplugged gig of songs from his new album for a host of fans.

Among them were Manchester Evening News readers to witness the mobile gig after we ran a competition. And it seems there was a good turnout to see his gig at the Trafford Centre too.

"There's lots here," Matt tells me a few minutes before he took to the stage. "And there's even more queueing for autographs."
